Taking A Look At Hoover Vacuum Cleaners

November 2nd, 2009 Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Expert Posted in Articles No Comments » 258 views

How is it that the Hoover vacuum company has been able to retain a significant role in the vacuum marketplace? Perhaps it is because they were first to market, in 1908, with their upright portable vacuum cleaner. After a century of doing business, they still have a terrific reputation for quality and they continue to innovate and introduce new technology to the vacuum market.

Just as with the first Hoover upright vacuum, which was introduced to homemakers a century ago, was quite impressive, the company continues to impress the marketplace with a broad product line. There is a Hoover brand one for just about every type of cleaning need. In addition to the traditional upright models that made them famous, they also make canister, steam, hand vacuums and more.

One good piece of advice to assure that you get the best vacuum cleaner for your needs, when you are deciding on a Hoover vacuum model, is to be crystal clear about your cleaning needs before starting to shop. Since there are so many vacuum styles and models to select from, it is a good idea to create a list of your common household cleaning needs. Then, when comparing the features of the different models, you can quickly align your decision with the unit that meets the requirements you have listed.

Following is a more detailed breakdown on the various types of Hoover models that you will find. This brief rundown should help you develop a general idea about which Hoover would do the best job for your particular cleaning needs.

Hoover Upright Vacuums: The Hoover company started out with the upright and still has many models of uprights in their product line today. You can find Hoover upright ones that are bagless, or you can opt for the models with vacuum bags.

Upright Hoovers are the most commonly used for everyday cleaning chores, to help keep the carpets clean and your home free of dust and dirt. Many of the upright models that Hoover offers are self-propelled, which reduces the muscle power you will need to put into vacuuming your house.

Hoover Canister Vacuums: One of the advantages of the Hoover canister type one is that you are able to more easily reach any spot in your home that needs to be vacuumed. Canister ones offer unparalleled portability and also maneuverability and are very easy to use.

They are also generally more powerful because the motor is housed in the canister unit, rather than being mounted on an upright frame. With the right attachments, you can easily access tight areas or high spots because the hose is more free-ranging than on upright models.

Hoover Steam Vacuums: If you have a high traffic area in your home, then the Hoover for you might be one of the steam vacuum models. Also sometimes referred to as deep cleaners, these steam units utilize a shampoo solution to clean those problem areas of your carpeting.

It is also a good idea to steam clean all areas of your carpeted area on a regular basis to draw out the dirt that inevitably settles into the carpet fibers over time. A regular steam cleaning can add years of life to your carpet, in addition to making it feel cleaner and look more vibrant.

In order to take care of small messes and deal with quick cleanup needs, there is also a nice choice of Hoover hand-held vacuums available, which make excellent units to have on hand to compliment the larger upright vacuums or canister vacuums models. Regardless of the type and the model of Hoover vacuum that you decide on, you will no doubt enjoy the assurance of buying a product from a company that has a strong track record for reliability and quality.

Hoover U8188900 Vacuum Cleaners – Review

November 1st, 2009 Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Expert Posted in Articles No Comments » 360 views

The Hoover U8188900 Anniversary Wind Tunnel Bagged and Bagless Upright is nicely priced in the $200-$250 range. This machine utilizes Wind Tunnel Technology (semi cyclonic) and can be used as a bagged or bagless vacuum cleaner which makes it perfect for larger debris jobs as well as normal vacuuming.

The Hoover U8188900 includes a HEPA filter to insure air quality and has a dirt finder light that lights up when vacuuming large amounts of debris. There is also a headlight for vacuuming in dark corners and under furniture. Like most residential vacuum cleaners, the cord is a standard 30 feet and has a long 8 foot hose for reaching under objects and into higher places. The motor is a powerful 12 amp motor for great suction and power.

Some nice features on this unit include the enclosed handle design for a more comfortable grip and wheels with bearings for easier mobility. The wheels are also rubber coated to hold close to the floor and to prevent scratching surfaces. The switch is located on the upper handle for easy turning on and off. The Hoover U8188-900 is equipped with 2 refuse chambers, one that has a filter and one that does not. The machine is available in two nice color choices of bronze or gray.

One of the best things about the Hoover U8188-900 is the impressive tool kit included with the unit and the ease with which the tools store in their own convenient case built right onto the machine. There is a nice assortment of tools including an upholstery tool, square brush, wand, long crevice tool, and roller brush for removing pet hair from furniture. The tools store away on the front top of the machine in a storage compartment with its own door, so that the tools won’t fall out during rigorous vacuuming.

There are a few problems with the Hoover U8188-900. The vacuum cleaner is a bit bulky in design and can feel a bit heavy and cumbersome at times, depending on the job. This machine is also a single motor unit which means that one motor controls both the suction as well as the beater bar. The brush roller is hard to access and needs a screwdriver to open, which is a bit of a hassle and is more time consuming. The bottom of the base is also made of plastic instead of metal and will scratch more easily over time. The other concern is that this machine is a little loud compared with some residential vacuums.

The Hoover U8188-900 Anniversary Wind Tunnel Bagged and Bagless Upright is overall a nice vacuum cleaner for the price. It has good suction, nice attachments and is able to handle a variety of cleaning jobs. This machine has a nice look to it and has all of the standard features expected in most residential vacuum cleaners, with some nice extras like the dirt finding lights, 5 setting carpet height adjustment dial (conveniently located on the base of the unit), HEPA filtration and a powerful 12 amp motor. The thoughtful design of the tool attachment storage compartment is an unexpected feature and one the user will certainly appreciate as well. If only it were a bit quieter.

Is The Simplicity Vacuum Cleaner Any Good?

October 30th, 2009 Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Expert Posted in Articles No Comments » 801 views

Well, it’s American-made but is the high price of a Simplicity vacuum cleaner justified and should you buy either its canister or upright models? It all depends on want you’re looking for. To some it might be the best vacuum cleaner while others should look else where.

There’s no getting away from the fact that a Simplicity vacuum cleaner is expensive. For its price you could go and buy the best model of Hoover, Dyson or Eureka vacuum cleaner. And, if you buy one of these brands, you’ll be getting one of the best vacuum cleaners on the market. They all offer models that are sleek in design, packed full of the latest wizardry and have received many favorable vacuum cleaner reviews. By comparison Simplicity canisters and uprights can seem old fashioned. There isn’t a cyclonic version and there’s no bagless one either. So, how does it justify its high prices and what’s so great about its machines?

First, you need to look at the materials used in the components of a Simplicity vacuum cleaner. If you take a serious look you’ll find a lot of metal on a Simplicity vac. For instance, the Simplicity upright vacuum cleaner comes with a metal wand, stainless steel base plate, a reinforced metal pedal and even a polished metal cord hook. There’s also metal were the eye can’t see; under the hood. What the use of all this metal tells you is that these machines are built to last. Try comparing another brand, like the Eureka upright vacuum cleaner, and you’ll notice the difference. The Eureka comes with substantially more plastic.

Another thing your dollar buys you is a generously sized motor in every machine. Some brands are all style and no substance, not so with a Simplicity vacuum cleaner. The company ensures that its cleaners are among the most powerful on the market.

Another thing you’re paying for is the use of innovative technology. For instance, on some of the upright models you get a Tandem Air System. This means the vacuum comes with not one but two motors. The first is where all upright motors are, just above the head so there’s no loss of suction. The second motor is placed higher up. Its job is to provide power for the onboard tools and to facilitate the highly efficient filtration system on the vacuum. But there’s more to it than you might think. The two motors don’t work independently; they work synchronously for optimal performance.

Also, many models of Simplicity vacuum cleaners come with HEPA filters – some are 100% sealed units, which are guaranteed to remove 99.97% of particles down to 0.3 microns in size. Vacuums fitted with this type of HEPA filter not only clean your carpet; they also clean your air.

The warranty on Simplicity vacuum cleaners is very good. There’s a minimum 2 year warranty on its cheapest models with more expensive ones coming with 6 years. Compare this against the warranty offered with a Eureka upright vacuum cleaner – most come with only a 1 year warranty.

So, is the Simplicity the best vacuum cleaner on the market? They aren’t the lightest or the prettiest but they do offer excellent suction power and they are solidly built. Whether you think the price tag is justified will depend on what you want from a vacuum cleaner and if you’re willing to pay for power and durability.

Hoover Elite Rewind Upright Bagless U5507900 Vacuum Cleaner Review

October 24th, 2009 Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Expert Posted in Articles No Comments » 263 views

The Hoover Elite Rewind Upright Bagless U5507900 is a bagless design vacuum cleaner with an E-Z Empty Bottom Release Dirt Cup and a lifetime HEPA filter. The 24′ power cord is retractable which deletes the need to manually wind up the cord after each use. There are 7 height adjustments, headlight, and an air flow indicator that signals when the dirt cup is full and the filter needs to be cleaned. In addition, this model also includes an on-board tool kit that includes a long crevice wand, a combination dusting brush and upholstery tool and a deluxe stretch hose capable of a 9′ extended release for cleaning hard-to-reach areas. Selling for under $130 dollars, this vacuum cleaner seems like a good value, especially with an included 1-year warranty.

The Hoover Elite Rewind Upright Bagless U5507900 is an impressive-looking machine with a strong-appearing design and a bold cherry-red color. The deluxe furniture guard is a generous wide black band that is attached across the front of the base. The guard is thick and protects baseboards and furniture from scratches. The tool set is included with the vacuum cleaner and stores nicely on the unit for easy access. In addition to the on-board tool kit, a powered pet hair removal tool is included and also stores on the handle. The powerful 12 amp motor and 15″ widepath cleaning combined with the tool kit make this quite a good find at this price point. For the money, this is a fully featured vacuum cleaner with a lot of suction and a well-thought out design.

The Hoover Elite Rewind is equipped with a powered pet hair tool that is really effective on pet hair, especially when it is compared to the equivalent Eureka Vacuum Cleaner. This machine is a better-made unit than those produced by Eureka, particularly Eureka’s 4D Pet Fresh vacuum. The Hoover far surpasses the amount of suction provided to the attachment tools, including the pet hair tool, resulting in more hair, dander and other debris ending up in the dirt cup. The nice thing about this particular model of Hoover is that it also has a deluxe hose for 9′ of extended reach cleaning. The extra hose length is wonderful for cleaning wall and ceiling fixtures, baseboards, under furniture and on stairs.

The only feature that is really lacking on the Hoover Elite Rewind is self-propulsion, which is a nice thing to have on heavier vacuum cleaners. At around 17 lbs, this machine isn’t overly heavy, but it weighs enough that self-propulsion would make a difference if the operator had large amounts of carpeting to cover on a regular basis. One great thing about this unit that does save the operator time is the automatic rewind of the power cord, which does tend to be quite aggressive. It is recommended that caution be used while the cord rewinds due the rapid retreat of the power cord and the prongs at the end on the plug. Without care, it is possible to get walloped by the fast moving plug.

With a HEPA filter, 24′ retractable cord, 9′deluxe stretch hose, powered pet hair tool, 15″ widepath cleaning, bagless design and other helpful features, the Hoover Elite Rewind is a good value vacuum cleaner at a decent price. The 1-year warranty included with this Hoover unit and the fact that the machine has a washable filter and requires no bags makes this a really good deal for someone in the market for a new vacuum cleaner.

Does Not Being Able To Find Hoover Vacuum Bags Drive You Crazy?

October 24th, 2009 Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Expert Posted in Articles No Comments » 256 views

Jean wanted to vacuum the living room last Saturday. One reason was because Rick, her handyman husband, had just bought her a brand ******** new Hoover vacuum cleaner. Jean was extremely happy about that because her mother had taught her how to clean the house and vacuum the carpet with her Hoover vacuum cleaner way back in the sixties.

Jean’s mother had also learned from her mom, Jean’s grandmother, way-way back in the forties. So you might say that the Barkerstone family was a Hoover vacuum clan.

However, that particular Saturday Jean was not making much progress with the rugs and carpet. She started vacuuming the way she had learned from her mom, but nothing was happening. She would go over and over little pieces of trash, but her new Hoover vacuum just would not pick up anything.

Imagine her surprise when she discovered that Rick, needing something to put some new sweet potatoes in for Jean’s brother, had borrowed her vacuum bag. Of course, he was going to put it back later, but had somehow forgot.

The moral of this story is this. Don’t plan to vacuum your house on Saturday with your new Hoover vacuum when your husband is working in the garden with your brother. Huh?

Sanitaire Vacuum Cleaner Reviews

October 22nd, 2009 Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Expert Posted in Articles No Comments » 215 views

Originally built for commercial use these workhorses are gaining in popularity thanks to their reliability, durability and that they do a great job of cleaning all floor types. If you’ve read consumer reviews of Sanitaire vacuum cleaners, you’ll have an idea that they’re loved by those who own one. Here’s a quick run-down on what’s available.

Sanitaire vacuum cleaners started out as being made only for commercial users – for years they weren’t available retail. They were designed from the outset to be used 8 hours a day, 7 days a week and to take far more punishment than domestic versions. And, those who used them appreciated just how durable and serviceable these machines were. Not only did they give years of trouble-free use but when something needed to be replaced, the vacuums were cleverly designed so that replacing parts was easy, which meant less downtime and more cleaning time.

There are many models now available to buy; everything from lightweight canisters through to heavyweight uprights.

Sanitaire Quick Kleen vacuum cleaners all feature a chrome hood – Riccar vacuums are among the few other brands that feature this component – which means they can take knocks most other plastic hood version can’t. While not having the largest motor (only 7 amps) they are suitable for most cleaning jobs. The 12″ cleaning path of SC886 and SC887 is also nothing to get excited about, the 16″ cleaning width of the SC899 most certainly is.

Finally, the SC886 and SC899 both come with shake out dust bags whereas the Quick Kleen SC887 comes with a dust cup.

While most agree that uprights offer more suction than canisters, most also complain that they can be heavy and awkward to maneuver. Sanitaire has tried t address this with its lightweight, upright collection. Of course this does mean that the motor size is smaller – down to 5 amps – but these machines are surprisingly powerful and the real benefit is that they weight only 12lbs. Models like the SC678 are CRI Green label certified and it also comes with dust cup (no bags) making it environmentally friendly.

However, when one thinks of Sanitaire vacuum cleaners it’s of the powerful uprights – especially the DuraLux. Without doubt, these are among the best, most durable, and powerful on the market today. Both the DuraLux SC9180 and SC9150 feature a powerful 1.5amp motor, large 4 quart dust bags and washable HEPA filter.

Few other machines can claim or match its commercial-grade design and performance – perhaps Simplicity, Hoover WindTunnel and Riccar vacuums cleaners being among the few that can. On certain things, some of them can offer better functionality; the DuraLux is not self-propelled whereas the Hoover WindTunnel is – these are heavy machines.

In conclusion, if you wan the best and want something that’s going to last the distance then you should seriously consider buy a Sanitaire vacuum cleaner.

For years Hoover has been recognized as a leader in the vacuum cleaner industry. One of the most noticeable features of a machine made by Hoover is how long they last. It’s not uncommon for one of these machines to last a lifetime. Because of this many people don’t think about repairs. They get too wrapped up in how great there vacuum cleaner is working. However it’s important to remember that nothing last forever. Eventually it may be necessary to purchase parts for your Hoover vacuum cleaner.

Hoover makes belts, filters and bags for every machine in there inventory. Each of their filters is designed to filter the dust and allergens out of the air. This replaces the dirty air with clean, fresh air that’s good for breathing. They also offer replacement belts for every model. Vacuum Cleaners Review – Hoover Mach 3 Cyclonic Bagless Upright U5180910

October 20th, 2009 Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Expert Posted in Articles No Comments » 356 views

The Hoover Mach 3 Cyclonic Bagless Upright U5180910 is a powerful vacuum cleaner with cyclonic air movement technology. For under $100 dollars it is a terrific machine, especially when it really doesn’t require bags or filters that need to be replaced in the future. A lifetime of washable filters (3) is included with the machine.

The Mach 3 Cyclonic Bagless Upright has a 15″ Widepath Nozzle with a 32′ cleaning reach. The power cord is 24′ long and there is a 8′ stretch hose. The on-board tool set includes two 14″ extension wands, a crevice tool and a dusting brush. A powered pet hair cleaning tool is a nice addition that works really well for cleaning upholstery and stairs. The telescopic handle is adjustable to the height of the operator and the on and off switch is located conveniently right below the grip of the handle for easy access . A headlight is included on the base of the model so that visibility is enhanced in darker areas and tight corners.

Of all the Hoover vacuum cleaners this is really a good value when taking into consideration how versatile and well-designed it is and the fact that there is a 1-year warranty included. The floor path width is very generous at 15″, which is great for larger rooms and hallways, and the 24′cord is an improvement over the standard 20′ found on a lot of residential uprights. The wider path means fewer passes are required to cover a room and the extra cord length means less time plugging and unplugging and increases efficiency. The fact that this unit is bagless and includes a lifetime of washable filters means that there really aren’t any more expenses other than vacuum cleaner belts. The belts on this machine are readily available and fairly inexpensive. The great thing is that they are also easy to change. Access to the bottom of the unit is nicely gained by utilizing a coin to pry open the coin slot type locks on the sides of the base of the machine. The brush roller agitator is also accessed in this way for times when the roller needs to be cleaned due to strings or hair becoming wrapped around the agitator.

There are a few drawbacks to the Hoover Mach 3 Cyclonic Bagless Upright vacuum . The main drawback is that this model does not feature a HEPA filter, which may be a problem for allergy sufferers, but there is a filter, nonetheless. Ways to improve the efficiency of the filter that is included would be to stay on top of washing it out on a regular basis so that it remains clean and unblocked. Another potential problem with this vacuum cleaner is that the dirt cup needs to be emptied rather frequently especially after cleaning high debris areas. These issues can be a hassle, but the flipside is saving money on both vacuum cleaner bags and filters. The power hand tool can become hot to the touch after prolonged use, but for residential use, it seems like a sturdy enough accessory, particularly for the price.

Overall, the Hoover Mach 3 Cyclonic Bagless Upright U5180910 is a great vacuum cleaner for the money. With plenty of power due to cyclonic air technology, an accessory kit with a handy power tool, bagless feature and user-friendly features, this model is a real value for the money, especially when you factor in the one year warranty. A handsome, well-built machine, this is yet another great vacuum from the Hoover vacuum cleaner line.

Sanyo Vacuum Cleaners – Consumer Ratings Don’t Lie

October 20th, 2009 Hoover Vacuum Cleaner Expert Posted in Articles No Comments » 670 views

If you’ve read any consumer vacuum cleaner ratings you’ll have noticed that Sanyo scores highly. The reason they do is quite simply because you get a lot for your money. There may be better brands and models on the market but none that offer as much for your money.

While the overall rating of Sanyo vacuum cleaners is good, certain models score more highly than others. However, it’s not a simple matter of choosing the one with a high rating, just because other people may like a particular model doesn’t mean it’ll be right for you. Therefore, before you read any reviews or make any decision on what to buy be sure that you know what features you want.

For instance the Sanyo PowerBoy SC-Y130 is a great compact, canister with excellent ratings but it does lack certain features. While it weighs only 7lbs and is easy to move around and carry about, the width of the brush is only 10 inches. If you have large floor areas to clean then you should take a look at another – and maybe a less well publicized model – like the SC-S700P, which has a powerful 12amp motor and a 12″ brush.

If you prefer upright vacuums then the Sanyo Performax SC-A116 could be the perfect choice. As you’d expect, it comes with a 12amp motor, a long 30′ power cord, onboard tools and 5-stage filtration with Electrostatic Final Filter. This vacuum compares extremely well with other makes such as Hoover and the Electrolux Altitude vacuum cleaner but at a substantially lower price.

But, if there is one star in the Sanyo collection it’s got to be the SC-H2000 Edge Grabber. This bagless, upright with true HEPA filtration is cyclonic and can match any other cyclonic on the market. Its specification is as good as the Hoover WindTunnel or any Dyson, but it’s at a fraction of the cost; only a few other brands, like the Euro-pro Infinity, can match it on price.

The above are just 4 of the models available from Sanyo and they might not be right for you. So, make up you mind about the features you need and the type of vacuum cleaner you prefer before you start your search. Then, read as many reviews as you can and find out the overall ratings of the vacuum cleaner you’re interested in. Only then will you be sure of buying the one that’s right for you.
